We do our best to place all players on a team who tryout for the academy and select groups. We can't guarantee that everyone will have a place a River City as there are a certain number of players allowed per team.
In the juniors program we will accept and place all players who would like to join the club.
Tryouts are notorious for being a hot day. Make sure you have enough to drink!
Players should bring a correct size and properly inflated ball to the session. Make sure the ball is clearly marked with the players name.
Current River City FC players should wear their practice attire (grey shirt/black shorts/grey socks). New players trying may wear whatever color they would like.
We know tryouts can cause some fear and anxiety but bring a good attitude, work hard, and try to have fun. Our coaches have all been through tryouts before and understand the feelings that can occur in players. We try our best to make it an enjoyable day, players need to do their best to bring the right mindset.
Make sure to arrive early. Players should get to their session time a minimum 20-25 minutes early. This allows time to check-In and make sure they are ready to go with no added stress.
All players need to check-in at the table located at the building by the concession stand and bathrooms.
New players trying out for academy or select teams will be given a number to pin on their shirt. Please pin the number on the front of your shirt.
Current players will not need a number to pin on as we will use your uniform number.
Make sure you are ready to play. Strech, make sure your cleats are tied and last minute bathroom run. Sessions start promptly at their assigned time so make sure you are ready!
Here is what to expect as a player during your session. What we expect as coaches is that you come out and work hard and have a good attitude. Don't worry about making mistakes. Everyone is going to make mistakes. Just do your best and try to enjoy your time on the field.
Players will be taken through a short activation warm up to make sure they are ready for the session.
Players will perform a 1v1 exercise where coaches will look at their ability to Attack and defend as individuals.
Goalkeepers will also get a chance to display their abilities in the goal.
Coaches will evaluate the players ability to play within a team as well as their technical ability in a game setting. Coaches will be looking at how a player receives the ball, passes the ball, deals with pressure from opponents, and makes decisions both with and without the ball.
Please return your number and safety pins to the check in table before leaving.
You will receive a notification from RCFC within 24-48 hours
